Doing Good

Tagged Under : , , ,

I am very excited to talk to you guys about a project that my husband and I have been working very hard on for several months.  We created a video site called Kind.tv.

Kind.tv is a video site about kindness.  It’s a do-gooders haven if you will.  The idea of the site is to record yourself or others doing kind things for someone else and then posting the video on the site.  Kind.tv is meant to encourage and inspire people to perform random acts of kindness for one another to bring happiness and joy, even if for only a moment.

There are so many people suffering for many different reasons whether it be the economy, their house being foreclosed on, a natural disaster, a job loss or anything else causing strife in their life.  You can volunteer your time, special skills you might have or money to so many different people and causes.  Kind.tv is meant to capture some of those moments, not to glorify yourself and get credit for what you do, but to show others that you don’t have to be filthy rich to make a difference in someone else’s life.  I firmly believe when you do good for someone just for the sake of doing good, it comes right back around to you.

I’m excited about this project because I know it can evolve into something really great with time and effort.  On a side note, any sponsorhsips or donations we recieve get divided into an 80/20 split.  80% of all monies will be given to charity on a monthly basis and the other 20% is kept for site cost and improvements.  It cost over $400 a month for hosting fees on that kind of site alone.

Soooooo, go watch the welcome video.  I personally have a video up of a donation drive that I ran in my neighborhood.  Give me your feed back here on the site.  I plan on doing more good deeds, recording them and posting them up there.  Now that the site is done and I can go do something else.

I want to thank everyone that helped to make this happen.

The Irony of Some Things

When I was catching up on the news online this morning I found this story.  Watch the video.  The clip is about an elderly woman who’s husband bought a lotto ticket early November 1st, then died later on in the day of a heart attack.  Since she was grieving the loss of her husband, she never bothered to check the ticket until now and it turned out that was the jackpot winning numbers for her state.  I want you to watch it so you can find out how much she won.  I didn’t want to spoil it for you.

Wasn’t that crazy?  Ironic is a better word.

After I watched that story I was immediately reminded of Alanis Morrisette’s song, Isn’t It Ironic.  What’s even more ironic is that ALL morning I have been trying to remember all the lyrics to the song because I knew there was a part in there about someone hitting the lotto.  For 3 hours I tried to figure it out instead of just looking it up on the internet.  (Hey I went to college in 1995…Alanis was all we listened to then so I knew some of the words.)

Anyhoo, I kept trying to remember but couldn’t so I gave up thinking if I don’t think about it, it will come to me.  I dropped Aryanna off at school.  On my way home as I pulled into my subdivision I put the easy listening station on. Guess what song came on????  The very song I was trying to remember the lyrics to.

I can’t help it but, isn’t it ironic?

Walmart Stampede

Tagged Under : , , ,

I am jumping on the band wagon with this one.  Many people are blogging about this today and I think with good reason.  For those of you who haven’t heard, a Walmart employee died because he was trampled on by a stampede of shoppers that pushed open the doors to rush the store for the sales yesterday morning.

My heart goes out to the man’s family for their loss.  I honestly don’t know when a sale became more important than a human life.  His death has brought new meaning to the term “Black Friday”.
