Easter Pics

Tagged Under : ,

I hope everyone had a good Easter. We did. It was laid back with just my husband, the kids, my Mom and my little brother. After we made the baskets we dyed some eggs. This year we took a drive to my Mom’s house. She made the best rib roast ever. I have got to get the recipe for that one! Here are some pics.  I know I’m a day late but I was exhausted yesterday and wasn’t even going to begin to try to put the album together.  Enjoy the pictures.

What to read?

As you know, if you read my goals, one of them was to read more often.  I’m enlisting the help of my readers.

Leave me a comment with a book you either recommend or a book that you would like me to read and review on here. This can either turn into an open discussion amongst the ones who have read the book or it could just be a review to either entice or warn someone about the book.

I like autobiographies, romance or anything generally entertaining.   I’m actually open to anything except that I’m not a big sci-fi girl.

Give me some suggestions in the comments and let’s see if any good ones come up.

Gas Prices

Tagged Under : ,

This image reminds me of just a couple months ago and how it felt to put gas in our truck. (We have a Ford Expedition) When gas prices were about $3.90ish..it cost me around $107 to fill up if I let it go to empty. Prices had been so high for so long that I got a HUGE reality check when I went to fill up today. It was $1.99 for Unleaded!!!! Big difference. Quite frankly I don’t even remember when it was below $2.60 last out here. When I filled up today, it cost me $52.00. That is a difference of $55.00!!!!! NO wonder why our monthly budget was so mangled. We fill up 1 time a week…so $55.00 times 4 is an extra $220.00 a month we were spending in gas alone. Considering we didn’t get a raise we had to take that money from elsewhere. That meant less road trips, less eating out or if we did it was fast food and less extra ativities that you have to pay for like bowling or theme parks. My husband and I are considering buying a bunch of gas cards with these prices and leaving them in a drawer somewhere so that when prices hike back up to $3.60-and you know they will!-we will have prepaid gas at a much easier price to swallow. Go buy some gas cards for yourself!!!!

What did you have to cut back on while prices were so high?

What Would You Do???

A couple of weeks ago a man rang our bell.  My husband answered and spoke with him for quite a few minutes.  I stayed away pretty much…but then I overheard my husband ask “Are they past due on the mortgage?”  I heard the man’s voice say “I can’t really say for privacy reasons.”  I got a little closer and heard my husband ask “Well, if you were looking for someone who might be past due on their mortgage, how past due would they have to be in order for you to be coming to their house looking for them?”  The man answered “3 to 4 months.”

I stopped listening.

My husband called me over.  He shut the door, turned and looked at me with a look of disgust.  He said “That guy was from the mortgage company.  Our landlords are about 3 or 4 months past due on their mortgage payments so the bank is looking for them to talk to them or start the foreclosure process.”

Tears welled up in my eyes because we have moved A LOT….and we JUST moved here.  We had signed a 2 year lease so we could settle and then buy a house at the end of the lease.  We ADORE this neighborhood.  The people are great, the house we’re renting is great, the location is great, the schools are great…it’s just great, ok!?
